Water Recreation on Lake George

With more accessible lake frontage than any other community on Lake George, Bolton Landing is a mecca for water sports. Bolton Landing has 2 public beaches which are available at no charge to visitors to our area. ($5 daily parking fee in both Roger Memorial and Veterans Memorial Parks). Play in the sand on the beach or take a refreshing swim in the crystal clear waters of Lake George.

For the more adventuresome, there are many ways to enjoy the 32 miles of Lake George. Bolton Landing has several marinas where you can rent a boat for a few hours or even days and explore the many beautiful bays and islands – there are 132 on the lake. You can even go for a picnic on one of the many state-owned islands. At the marinas you can also obtain tubes and water skis and enjoy these great activities. And, of course, for those who are lucky enough to have their own boats, there are several launch facilities in Bolton where you can put your boat in the water and store your trailer.

Another way to explore the lake is with a guide – also available at several marinas – or you can be picked up right in Bolton Landing by the Lake George Steamboat Company at the town pier for a tour of the Narrows.

In Bolton Landing the opportunity also exists to go Para-Sailing in the beautiful waters of Bolton Bay. Enjoy The Sagamore Resort from a bird’s-eye view. You can also rent wave runners and skim cross the crystal clear waters. If you want to go tubing or water skiing and are not comfortable operating a boat, the opportunity exists at several marinas to have a tour operator give you a ride. And if you are staying at one of our resorts directly on the water, they will even come pick you up by boat at your hotel.

And, finally, there is the opportunity to explore our beautiful waters via canoe, kayak or rowboat. These are available at many of our lakeside accommodations or for rent at the marinas and Kayak shops in Bolton Landing.
