
JOB TITLE: Caretaker
Summary:
Manages the maintenance of all property grounds and buildings and facilitates off-season
events and maintenance projects. The Caretaker is onsite while Wiawaka is in operation.
Job Responsibilities:
• Pick up empty waste and recycling receptacles.
• Clean vents and screens; wash windows, trash cans, glass doors, and equipment.
• Replace various kinds of light bulbs.
• Move furniture and equipment, as needed.
• Transport and deliver supplies and other light items.
• Oversee or mow grass, water lawns, feed and trim shrubs, and inspect assigned work areas
regularly to ensure proper standards are maintained.
• Oversee or operate all lawn and ground equipment, including power mowers.
• Paint inside and outside of buildings as requested.
• May fuel heating units and/or stokers or other automatic fuel feeding devices and remove burned
materials and/or waste.
• Perform minor mechanical work and adjustments on all lawn and grounds equipment.
• Water and septic systems spring opening and fall closing.
• Inspect grounds and buildings during the off season and report any damage to the Executive
Director.
• Remove snow from Fuller House awning after each snowfall, rake snow from other buildings as
necessary.
• Handle all leaf raking and removal in the fall; tree and brush removal as needed after storms.
• Set up, maintain, and remove the fire alarm system at closing.
• Meet with the Executive Director, often and as needed, to formulate and prioritize maintenance
for each season. Assist with reaching out for volunteer help where needed.
• Help open and close Wiawaka, coordinating jobs and volunteers.
• Act as the point person for off-season events and is available onsite.
• Work within Wiawaka’s budget.
• Perform other duties as required.

Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director.

Seasonal volunteers engaged for grounds and building projects.
Education and Experience Qualifications
General maintenance experience required.

Excellent mechanical and maintenance aptitude
