Here in town on Memorial Day, after the parade and picnic in Veteran’s Park, there was lots of activity along Main Street. Shoppers, diners, picnickers and bathers were making their way to enjoy the remainder of the day.
One small group was very familiar to me. Mrs. Trowbridge, a teacher at Bolton Central School, was out on her annual trek with her elementary students to “where the sidewalk ends”.
Each Memorial Day since her own children were small, Mrs. T. has walked with her group from where our sidewalks start, at the Bolton Firehouse, to where they end, at the Bolton Garden Center, and back again.
These children are introduced to the businesses, the Veteran’s Memorial and Town Hall, the Bolton Free Library and the Bolton Historical Museum. A quick stop at the Chamber for a lollipop provides the steam to browse Black Bass Antiques and shop at Happy Jack Kids and the Indian Tepee, winding down with a quick slice of pizza.
This year Bolton Chamber is introducing its own version of “where the sidewalk ends”!
