The Sembrich Brings World Music to Downtown Bolton Landing

BOLTON LANDING – The Sembrich will present the West African band Jomion & the Uklos in two free musical
events for visitors and residents of Bolton Landing on August 7, 2025. The first event at 11:00 AM is a
children’s concert introducing young people to the musical traditions of West Africa. The second event at 7:00
PM is an evening performance for the entire community to enjoy. Both events, presented in partnership with
the Town of Bolton, will take place in Bolton Landing’s Rogers Park in the heart of the lakeside village.
“We are delighted to bring Jomion & The Uklos to Bolton Landing and share their vibrant musical performances
with our community,” says Richard Wargo, The Sembrich’s Artistic Director. “We wanted to offer something
special to our community and what better way than with a concert in the park! We look forward to welcoming
locals and visitors alike at what promises to be a lively day of music for all!”
Jomion & The Uklos is a family band from Benin, West Africa, led by Samuel "Jomion" Gnonlonfoun. With his
brothers JB, Mathieu and his daughter Rose, Jomion combines traditional rhythms and songs from his country
culture with reggae, salsa and jazz to create vibrant, relaxed dance music, which he calls Whedo-jazz. They
have performed on Lincoln Center Outdoors, with B.B. King in Times Square, and recorded with the music icon
Bobby McFerrin.
Rogers Park is located in the center of Bolton Landing at 4922 Lake Shore Dr, Bolton Landing, NY 12814.
Admission to this event is free and concertgoers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or a blanket as seating is
on the lawn.
These events are sponsored by the Town of Bolton, Stewart’s Shops, and Louis and Maureen Van Dyck.
