Screen Shot 2014-06-26 at 8.50.16 AM Tickets are on sale now for the 2014 Bolton Chamber of Commerce 2014 Raffle. You can purchase tickets with cash, credit or even PayPal: drop by the Bolton Chamber of Commerce office in Rogers Park (518-644-3831),  or go online to www.boltonchamber.com/fundraiser.asp and buy with Pay Pal. At $10 a ticket, you have a chance for one of three prizes: a 2014 VX Deluxe Yamaha WaveRunner with trailer from Chic’s Marina; 2 nights at the Sagamore Hotel and Resort, or a one hour helicopter ride with North Country Heliflight. There is a cap of 3,000 on the number of tickets to be sold – a cap is a good thing if you are buying!  And three chances to win! The winning tickets will be drawn at the Chamber’s annual Auction Dinner auction at the Sagamore (Shelving Rock Terrace) on September 9. No, you don’t have to be present to win – but you will be missing a very entertaining evening! Elaine Chiovarou-Brown, Office Manager for the Chamber, said the Chamber auction is a community event that has been happening more years than she has been here, and this is her 19th season doing the arrangements! (Check out the August 14, 2012 “Bolton’s Annual Auction” blog on this website) Anyone is welcome to donate to the auction, and everyone is welcome to attend. And the dinner is delightful, prepared by the Sagamore’s world-class chefs. Actually, there are two auctions – one silent, and one live, led by DJ Andy Pratt. The items on offer are often unusual, sometimes outrageous (like the Indian Teepee’s diving helmet) and no one knows what will take off on a bidding war – the most memorable is an apple pie that sold for $300 – and a lot of laughs! Last year the Bolton Chamber of Commerce, Inc. tried its first raffle with a 2013, 110th Anniversary Limited Edition 1200 Harley Davidson, which generated enormous interest and admiration parked outside the Chamber for the summer. Tickets were $10 each, with a cap of 2,500 tickets to be sold. After all expenses were paid, the Chamber welcomed the proceeds for their tourism promotion fund. This year the proceeds will be directed toward the new building fund – ground has not yet been broken for the new Visitor Center – Chamber of Commerce and Tourist Information building, but plans are in the works. How do you like to buy tickets for a raffle? Last year, one of our visitors came in faithfully once a week during the summer, he wanted to spread the ticket numbers out! Others bought chunks of numbers, or tickets in “runs” like 1101 to 1111 when those numbers became available. (Unfortunately, the Chamber can’t promise particular numbers – they sell the tickets in sequence.) Other places to buy raffle tickets are: Neuffer’s Deli, Capri Village, Candlelight Cottages, Rachel Zuckerman, and the Lake George Steamboat Company. If you would like to sell tickets for the raffle, contact Elaine at the Chamber office – 518-644-3831. Which prize would you like to win? What would you do with each prize? Who is the first person you would invite to enjoy each prize with you? Why not try for all three!! Penelope Jewell      ]]>
