Holiday Shopping in Bolton Landing
Holidays in the North Country – if it were in pictures, it would be Norman Rockwell and Grandma Moses – the streams are gathering that lacy ice along their shores, lakes are beginning to ice over, there is a covering of snow here and there – with the leaves down, you can see more of Lake George as you come in on scenic Route 9N North – just beautiful! Bolton Landing is a wonderful place to spend a day – and a treat for yourself as well.
As for shopping – park (for free) right on Lakeshore Drive, just outside the stores and restaurants – you won’t need a bow on your antenna to find your car again, dodge traffic, ice and snow piles or freeze on the way there! Our DOT “road guys” are excellent at keeping the streets and sidewalks clean, clear and safe.
So – if you happen to be done with “mall-itis”, outlet overload, and the super store blues, rejoice! Bolton Landing has some of the most interesting, up-scale and unique stores all in one place, with arrays of surprising one-of-a-kind gift ideas. Many will be open for holiday shopping, and will ship anywhere, including overseas – forget the long lines at the post office! And may I say, if you have not been in our fantastic stores, you simply have not shopped – they even smell great!
The Indian Tepee Gift Shop and the Bolton Garden Center and Country Store (Christmas trees galore!) will be open 7 days a week through Christmas Eve (not Christmas Day, of course!) The Indian Tepee Gift Shop will then be open on weekends in January and February. Happy Jack’s and Trees Adirondack Gifts and Books (over 2,500 titles you won’t find in commercial stores) are both open 5 days a week, closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. Trees will be open every day during Christmas Week, closed on Christmas Day and then open again until New Years. Finishing Touches florist is open every day except Sunday until Christmas, and they deliver throughout the area.
Many of our other stores are open for extended weekends on Friday and Saturday – please check with the stores about Sundays. All of our stores and restaurants are listed with phone numbers on our website: www.boltonchamber.com, and you can connect to their websites with just one click.
Serendipity Boutique has a fantastic collection of unique clothing and accessories, and I even saw some special jams and jellies in there! Adirondack Trails Store is offering 20% off store wide (with only a couple exceptions), and Black Bass Antiques has a huge collection for the fisher-buff on your list, as well as many other fine selections. Ron’s Hardware is open every day except Sunday – and you just never know what you are going to find in Ron’s! My family calls me “ever practical” as a gift giver, I’m likely to be in Ron’s for the useful stocking stuffer gifts.
A lot of our very fine eateries are open to offer excellent food. I happen to be a fan of our Bolton diners – Bolton Beans, an original 1946 Worster diner car with booths and a counter, is open all year around at 7 am every day until 3 pm on the weekends. The Lakeside Lodge and Grille and Frederick’s Restaurant, Bar and Lounge will all be open for lunch and dinner on the weekends. Le Chateau on the Lake, our newest restaurant, will have a Chateau Hour on Fridays starting at 3, lunch on Saturdays and a brunch on Sundays, as well as dinner from Thursdays through Sunday. And I’m told they will have a fantastic New Year’s offering! For the Market Place Steakhouse and More and Cate’s Italian Garden, please call for hours.
