Great Recreation Schedule in Bolton Landing – and Most Events are Free!
The Town of Bolton has an absolutely wonderful Summer Recreation Schedule –it offers something for everyone, is especially great for children of all ages, and most of the schedule is free! There are outdoor movies, concerts, special events, lessons, classes and camps, and the Bolton Town Hall meeting rooms are the back up for most activities in case of rain.
You can pick up a listing of the 2013 Summer Schedule at the Town Hall and the Bolton Chamber of Commerce office and information center in Rogers Park. You can also check listings at www.townboltonny.com and www.boltonchamber.com
Let’s start with our Two Free Beaches: Veterans Memorial Beach (lovely beach for children) and Rogers Memorial Beach are open daily from 10 AM to 5 PM with lifeguards. The schedule changes after Labor Day. There are $5 parking lots adjacent to the beaches, or free parking on Lake Shore Drive or in the public parking lots. There are free public picnic areas, playgrounds, tennis and basketball courts, and rest rooms.
FREE lessons! No sign up required for most of the lessons, although there are specified days and times for different age or skill groups – please check the Calendar for details.
Tennis Lessons at Rogers Park for tiny tots (ages 4-6) through youths, Monday-Friday starting at 9 AM, no sign up required. Check the Calendar for the different age groups.
Youth Arts and Crafts are also at Veterans Park, for children ages 8 and up. Adult Arts and Crafts are at the Veterans Pavilion on Monday and Wednesday form 6-8 PM.
Exercise Classes for adults, including Yoga, Pilates, and Stand Up Paddle Boarding at various locations and low fees – check the Calendar!
Swimming Lessons for beginners, intermediate and advanced happen Monday – Friday at Veterans Memorial Park on beautiful Lake George.
And there are Adventure Wednesdays – an excursion to a Yankee’s baseball game at Yankee Stadium, or another one to the Ashville Game Farm and Zoo, hikes, and horseback riding. The costs are from free to very reasonable, registration is required.
Now, on to The Camps: co-ed Soccer, Basketball, Theater, and Dance Camps – these week-long mini-camps happen at different locations during July and August, and serve different ages and grades from Kindergarten through Grade 9. The camps require registration: go to www.boltonnewyork.com to print a form, complete it and drop it off along with payment at the Town Hall to reserve your space. You can arrive early on the day of the desired camp, however space is limited and it is first come, first served.
The free Special Events during July and August usually happen at Roger’s Memorial Park unless otherwise noted, rain dates are usually at the Town Hall meeting rooms. Check the Calendar for dates and details. Look for Fireworks, Mindmajik, the Mettawee River Theater Company, the Youth Theatre Camp and Youth Talent Show performances, Celtic Fairy Tales by the Adirondack Shakespeare Company, the Lake George Theater Lab play with a talk afterwards, and a Las Vegas Night.Free Movies outdoors in Roger’s Park (or indoors at the Town Hall if it rains) every Wednesday night at 8:30 PM – bring your own blankets, lawn chairs and popcorn!
Free Summer ConcertSeries on Tuesday evenings from 7:15 to 9:30 PM. Rock and Roll, Rio Jazz, Folk, Blues, Country and Western, Motown – check the dates for your favorites!
