Dancing Under the Stars in Bolton Landing – August 16th at the Pier

libraryThe Bolton Free Library is hosting a new event on August 16th – Dancing Under the Stars – at the Bolton Landing Pier in Rogers Memorial Park – right behind the library at 4922 Lakeshore Drive. The evening will run from 5 to 10 p.m., music provided by Blue Moon. This is a fundraiser for the library roof fund: tickets are $20 per person, children under 13 are free. Tickets are available at the Bolton Free Library, The Bolton Chamber, Cate’s Italian Garden, Ron’s Hardware, and the Lakeside Lodge and Grille. And food! There is a cocktail party before the dancing starts – one free drink with your admission ticket, beer and wine available at $3 per drink.  and appetizers will be provided by local restaurants as well as may Library patrons and Friends. Now, that is a deal! And an auction! There will be both a silent and live auction, with auctioneer Buddy Foy of Cate’s Italian Garden fame. Among the items up for bidding are: a couple’s golf membership from the Sagamore Hotel and Resort, a pizza party for 20 with wine included at Cate’s Italian Garden, an overnight at the Friends Lake Inn including diner and breakfast, a palate of wall stone from Champlain Stone (free delivery within 50 miles), a two night stay at Carey’s Lakeside, gift cards from Stewart’s (Yea! Gas! Coffee!), a two hour ride in a classing wooden boat from F.R. Smith and Sons Marina (absolutely lovely!), a six month membership from Bolton Fitness, a meal for four from Dave’s Market, lunch for four from Neuffer’s Deli (picnic on the lake, anyone?), a car care bucket  from Ron’s Hardware, a family membership to the Sembrich, an assortment of goodies from Happy Jacks, a two-night stay at Melody Manor, Wauneata Waller is donating a Family Game Night, and LOTS of other interesting items – you just never know what will turn up at an auction in Bolton Landing! If you have something you think would be “just the thing” for either auction, call Director Megan Baker at the library to donate (644-2233) – the library is soliciting donations from individuals and businesses. The Bolton Free Library really is a hub for activities in Bolton. As many of our visitors have noticed, there is free Wi-Fi in and around the library (on the porch and picnic table), computers and a video system available for public use, and many local organizations use the library for meetings and events that are open to the public. The Sembrich Museum runs a very interesting series of movies there each summer. The library has a Facebook page with current information – please “Like” them! https://www.facebook.com/pages/Bolton-Free-Library/87644653112 The link for Dancing Under the Stars is https://www.facebook.com/dancingunderstars?ref_type=bookmark Library Summer Hours run from June 21 to September 12, opening at 10 a.m. Monday through Saturday;  closing at 6 on Monday and Saturday, closing at 9 during the week. Closed Sundays. All the events are interesting and fun, and bring our community together – we consider that our visitors are part of our Bolton Landing community for the time they are here! And often beyond – now many of our regular visitors keep up with us during the year through the Chamber, Town and Library internet sites. The Bolton Free Library must raise about half its operating costs each year, and hosts several annual fundraisers: the Cabin Fever Party the first week in March, the Book Sale and Antiques show the last week of July, the Library Cook-Off the first week of November – a “pro-am” event – our local restaurants and Bolton’s best cooks square off, and for a donation of $5 you get to taste it all! The events bring our community together for a good time, and raise much needed money for the library’s operating expenses, materials and improvements. What are your favorite things about your library? Have you ever been “Dancing Under the Stars”? And when was the last time you went dancing?? Penelope Jewell    ]]>
