Living Lands: Bats in NY and White-Nose Syndrome

August 9 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Free

Join the Lake George Land Conservancy for the first presentation in our Living Lands summer presentation series. Each week, we will take an exclusive and up-close look at the people, history, and wildlife of the lands of Lake George and the Adirondacks, past and present.

This week will be focused on New York bats and white-nose syndrome. Since the arrival of white-nose syndrome, many of NY’s bat populations have been devastated. Kate Ritzko will take a closer look at how our bats are doing in today’s world. Kate is a Wildlife Technician specializing in bats with NYS DEC. Kate performs underground surveys in the winter and works with volunteers to acoustically survey bats in the summer to monitor our bat populations.
