The Sembrich and The Hyde Collection bring you this season’s member appreciation event! Join us for a studio talk and performance by cellist Evan Drachman with pianist Michael Clement, dedicated to Drachman’s celebrated grandfather, Gregor Piatigorsky, one of the pre-eminent string players of the twentieth century.
Drachman will explore the Adirondack life of his cellist grandfather through stories and music significant to Piatigorsky, including original compositions, arrangements and often performed works. Selected repertoire for the program includes music by Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky, and Rubinstein.
Mr. Drachman spends much of his time performing recitals, concerti and chamber music in the United States and abroad. As Artistic Director of The Piatigorsky Foundation, he has become a nationally respected authority on the presentation of live classical music to diverse audiences. The Foundation’s mission is to make live classical music a part of the fabric of everyday life for underserved communities throughout the United States.
