Marcella Sembrich from Bay View, her 1920-30’s summer estate with her original teaching studio, today The Sembrich. Experience the beauty of this historic site and relive the lakeside evenings from of America’s “Gilded Age” and the “Golden Age of Opera.” Explore a museum containing mementos from Mme. Sembrich’s life & career (1856-1935), opera costumes, scores, and her collection of paintings, statues, etchings and period furnishings. Tributes abound from colleagues such as Enrico Caruso, Geraldine Farrar, Antonio Scotti, and composers Puccini, Mahler, Strauss, Verdi, & Brahms. Throughout the summer The Sembrich presents activities including lectures by noted speakers, a children’s opera, a film series, and intimate chamber music concerts featuring award wining musicians.
