Veterans helping Veterans, Families and Communities.

The American Legion is the nation’s largest and most powerful organization of U.S. wartime veterans and their families. Today, it counts 2.3 million members who operate through more than 13,000 posts across the United States and beyond. One of those post is our American Legion Post 961 right here in Bolton Landing, New York. We are a small post with approximately 25 members with big plans on expanding so we can better serve our community. Since its inception by Congress in 1919, the American Legion has delivered substantial improvements for veterans, families and communities. Please join by contacting Nick Laiacona. You must have served at least one day of active military duty during eligibility dates (below) and were honorably discharged or still serving honorably. Dues are $35 per year.

With the signing of the American Legion Act on July 30, 2019 we no longer have seven war eras to qualify for membership, we now only have two. These are April 6, 1917 to November 11, 1918 and December 7, 1941 to a time to be determined by the federal government (which means no end date has been set). No other restrictions to the American Legion are changed.
