Top Reasons...Lake George is a very clean lake with excellent visibility, providing a great SCUBA diving experience. The region's rich historical background provides many wrecks to explore. Information on Lake George's Submerged Heritage Preserves which includes the "Land Tortoise - 1758" and the Bateau Cluster can be obtained at the Chamber office or by calling the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation at 518-897-1200. There are also many smaller wrecks, historic sites and natural formations to dive as well.
Access to Lake George may be gained through state and town launch sites, campgrounds or by renting a boat at one of the many marinas. Dive charters are available and SCUBA air fills can be obtained at Northern Lake George Resort 518-543-6528. Remember that New York State law protects historic sites. Dive safely and enjoy.
